Johannes has been helping to setup and professionalize major gifts fundraising in organizations such as: European Southern Observatory (ESO), Institut de Radio Astronomie Millimétrique (IRAM), European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), acatech – National Academy of Science and Engineering, Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Technical University Berlin, Technical University Munich, Technical University Graz, Europe-University Viadrina, University of Graz, Free University of Berlin, Goethe Institute, swisscontact – Swiss Foundation for Technical Cooperation, The END Fund – Ending Neglected Diseases.
Prior to becoming a fundraiser and fundraising consultant, Johannes worked for three years as a Project Manager for CAMET Research Inc., a scientific company based in Santa Barbara, California, where he set up a new department. He then went to the New York University Stern School of Business to complete a fulltime MBA program. He worked as a Summer Associate for Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and as a Consultant for the Urban Business Assistance Corporation. Prior to his time in the United States, Johannes completed an engineering degree in applied physics at the University of Applied Science Munich.
Johannes frequently speaks at fundraising events, such as the International Fundraising Congress (IFC) in The Netherlands and the German and Austrian Fundraising Congress. He has been teaching on fundraising and sponsoring at Technical University Munich and is co-author of the German fundraising standard „Fundraising – Handbuch für Grundlagen, Strategien und Instrumente“ and “Fundraising im Gesundheitswesen”, a book on fundraising for the healthcare sector. Johannes is member of the German Fundraising Association.
